The board of trustees provides oversight of all property and physical assets of a local church or charge. This includes managing and reviewing the church’s property insurance.

Trustees also receive and administer bequests made to the church, ensuring that all funds are used in accordance with the wishes of the deceased. Additionally, they oversee any specific trusts, foundations, endowments or investments on behalf of the congregation.

Each year, the board conducts an accessibility audit of the church building and grounds to ensure the property is fully accessible and welcoming to individuals with physical disabilities. Trustees then make recommendations to eliminate obstacles to inclusion, such as building ramps, installing elevators or adding more handicapped parking spaces. also receive and administer bequests made to the church, ensuring that all funds are used in accordance with the wishes of the deceased. Additionally, they oversee any specific trusts, foundations, endowments or investments on behalf of the congregation.

There is no hammer-swinging or hands-on repair work required or expected, unless you just happen to have the skill and want to do it. On an as-needed basis, the Trustees mostly call repair persons, collect bids, and sign contracts for the repairs, and coordinate the payment with Leadership. Occasionally the Trustee Chair will be called upon to sign documents on behalf of the congregation. Periodic audits are things you can receive a lot of help with, and are not as daunting as they sound. Former Trustees from the congregation can help train you for the job, if needed.

Constituents who are Non-members are welcome on the committee. The chair and vice chair need to be full members. If you are a current member of our congregation, you are fully qualified to be Trustee Chair. If you are not a full member but interested in being Trustee chair, we can rectify that.

I'm asking for your help. Please put some prayer and thought into stepping into leadership in our church as a Trustee and/or chair. Your church needs you. We need you to help take charge of the current crisis, and to guide our church well into the new building.

If you are interested in making this essential and rewarding step into leadership, please contact either Anne in the office or me personally. Please address questions directly to me. You can either email me at williedeuel@gmail.com or call/text at 618-214-2137.
